Where are the answers?

They're remaking more Roger Corman films??[1] Why!?!

I've never read this book, and I'm starting to think that's a good thing. I think your customary "What" is more than appropriate for your synopsis.

Are all of RB Farraday's projects derived from RL Stine projects? It seems like some of them are (the tv series "Nightmare House" being the most obvious example), but I can't place all of them.

Zak, every answer is "C"

Chad Walters, as Groggy has pointed out, Farraday is supposed to be a Roger Corman-type director[1] (which I'm sure kids picked up on), but the name is obviously meant to recall Stine himself. And the physical description of the director actually fits Wes Craven[2]

I guess that depends on your definition of "camp," Thomas Again[Note 1]

R. Faraday? Could this be Stephen King's Dark Man?[3]

"Incidentally, is that supposed to be a raccoon on the cover, or something else?"

Yeah... But was it even in the story?

"On a side note I'm looking forward to 'Are You Terrified Yet'. I'm psyched to see that book Troy-ified, it's gonna be really interesting since it's the only Goosebumps book that... nah, I won't say it, I'll see if Troy notices (which he probably will) and if not, I'll mention it. But it's not something lame like 'the only one with a prologue/epilogue' or two parter or anything like that. More has to do with a factor that Troy would no doubt observe."[Note 2]

Okay, let's make it a guessing game. Does it turn out that there are no end-of-chapter cliffhangers?

There is indeed a raccoon in the story. Allow me to recap the scene from the book that inspired the cover:

Hey look, there's a raccoon in the trash can. Well, let's keep walking.[Note 3]

Notes[edit | edit source]

[Sorry if the comments on this page are more difficult to follow than usual. Troy addresses three separate commenters in a single comment (not even in chronological order). Also, a bunch of commenters quote other commenters. If there's any confusion, consult the archived entry.]

  1. This could mean one of two things. In the book, the protagonist camps out in a tent. Alternatively, "camp" can refer to something that is "kitschy," appealing for its ironic value.
  2. Spoiler alert! The original commenter ("Zak") would later clarify that there are no supernatural elements. (Although, technically Fright Camp and Scream School also don't have supernatural elements...)
  3. Cover artist Tim Jacobus would create artwork while Stine was still creating the books. It's possible that this scene was added last minute to match the artwork (similar to what happened with Say Cheese and Die!).

References[edit | edit source]

  1. 1.0 1.1 Roger Corman is a prolific B-movie director.
  2. A famous horror director. Like Farraday, he had long hair and a beard.
  3. A powerful and recurring antagonist in King's work. First called "The Dark Man", the character also goes by "R.F."
